Bordelle was founded in 2007 by Alexandra Popa and Javier Surez as a bodywear design label. Their collections are characterized by the “body-con” designs and a guarded secret technique that binds satin elastic bands into a blended style of lingerie and outwear with a touch of “S&M sensuality”.

The founders started out working from their small design studio in Ladbroke Grove for about six months.

Soon after their big break came in the form of an order for Britney Spears’ Circus Tour. A week later at London Fashion Week, Selfridges ordered an in-store Spring Summer 09 Collection launch. Both of these two first orders were a success despite the time crunch and sleepless nights.

At Selfridges the Bordelle couture girdles sold out in 24 hours and Bordell’s selling power has increased ever since. Liberty, an eclectic department store, Luisa via Roma and Coco de Mer stores also picked up Bordelle shortly thereafter.

Today Bordelle focuses on growing the company internationally while always seeking fresh new and innovative designs. They now exceed 50 international stockists representing over 30 territories the world over. The entire company is run in house at their West London atelier; not one of their departments is outsourced.

Bordelle’s designs are marked by their signature satin straps that seem to fit together like a “caged puzzle.” Simple strips of sating have been designed and sewn together producing a truly unique lingerie design.

The designs range from bras to corsets, and from caged dresses to seductive garter belts. Even traditional shapewear pieces have been turned into seductive boudoir lingerie.

Black is the predominant color in Bordelle’s collections, colors are used more as accents which adds to the dark and seductive feeling of Bordelle lingerie and bodywear.
