Maya attended the Madrid fashion Institute and graduated in 2002. While in school she won several awards attesting to her design expertise and innovations.

She won second place at the Smirnoff Fashion Awards in 2001, and later that year she won the Silver Thimble in the International ‘Pazos de Ferreira’ competition.

She presented her work in 2001 and 2002 in ‘Platform room’ which is a part of Fashion week in Barcelona dedicated to young designers. Her work was met with much praise.

She is the costume designer for a Spanish Metal band Heavy Metal group Mago de Oz and also artists: Ebony Ark, Pablo Giaretta and Ratio and Pedro Sabio. She has also been featured in Elegy magazine, a leading Goth publication.

Maya Hansen designs can be described as edgy, opulent, gorgeous, and dark. Her two seemingly conflicting design styles merge seamlessly into her collections. The finest silks and laces are used in her sweet and elegant designs, while the use of PVC hones in on the dark and fetish goth.

If you are dainty, goth, dark, elegant, refined or on the edge Maya Hansen has the design for you. Her designs encompass the female dichotomy: the virgin and the whore. The perfect combination for the sweet yet seductive.
